The campaign season has been a tough one, full of violence that saw many people lose their lives. The government has also ordered all social media platforms to be blocked.
According to Museveni, Facebook has banned several accounts that supported his ruling party, and therefore, he has banned social media in the country.
Polls opened at 7.00 am EAT and the results are expected to be out by Saturday. Museveni who has been in office for 35 years, is seeking re-election for the 6th time.
Campaigning had been banned in the capital Kampala, and several other districts. The opposition says this is because it is popular in those areas, but the government says it was to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
