The number of coronavirus infections has shot to 2,340 after 124 people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours
While addressing the nation in regards to coronavirus, health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that this spike was after testing a 2,640 sample size.
Out of the 124, 119 were Kenyans, 2 Tanzanians and 1 Eritrean. The figures do not include individuals tested at the border, who were turned back from entering into Kenya.
In terms of counties, Mombasa had 40 cases, Nairobi 38, Busia 26 and Kajiado 6. Elgeyo Marakwet County recorded its first case bringing the total number of Counties affected to 36.
In Mombasa, 14 cases were from Mvita, 14 from Kisauni and 11 from Changamwe while in Nairobi, the cases were recorded from Kibera quarantine centres and Kamukunji.
In terms of gender, 100 are male and 24 females.
39 patients have been discharged, bringing the number of recovered persons to 592.
On the other hand, Kenya has lost 4 more patients. Fatalities now stand at 78.
