Karumandi MCA Anthony Munene and nominated MCA Lucy Njeri were today kicked out of the chambers during Governor Anne Waiguru’s impeachment motion.
Speaking after the incident, Ms Njeri said they had received e-mails on Monday night notifying them of the planned motion.
She accused her counterparts of holding the impeachment motion despite a court order halting the motion until certain matters were resolved.
She also said that the assembly speaker Waweru Gathumbi was ignoring her when the motion kicked off.
“I have raised my hand for over 10 times for point of order and no one is paying attention to me, this is illegal,” Njeri noted.
“Other times, we received the notices early, but last evening, we only got e-mails that they are planning to debate the motion today,” she explained.
“The speaker was pretending he cannot see me, I had raised my hands for over 10 times and that is why I shouted because my voice needs to be heard even if we are the minority,” she said.
This comes hours after 24 out of the 33 MCAs who make up the Kirinyaga county assembly spent their Monday night at the assembly ahead of Governor Anne Waiguru impeachment motion slated for Tuesday.
