Ali Punjani’s wife arrested
Detectives started investigating a Mombasa based man who s believed to be a drug trafficker after his assistant disclosed that he is in India undergoing treatment. A letter from a local hospital dated July 31 indicates he was admitted at the facility on July 29 following what was described as an acute coronary syndrome.
He was then referred to the Asian Heart Institute in India.
Yesterday, Police raided the house of Mombasa prominent businessman Ali Punjani in Nyali, on suspicion of his involvement in drug trafficking. Punjani had been directed to surrender immediately but his lawyer Asige Kiberenge said the tycoon suffered a heart attack in July and is hospitalized in India.
Ali Punjani’s wife Karki Sushmija, alongside two other individuals, have been arrested during a police raid at the tycoon’s home in Mombasa.
The three will be treated as first suspects in the investigation on Punjani’s alleged drug trafficking operations.
