Samuel Okeng’o is a hopeful 14-year-old young man who was so focused on acquiring his high school education despite his humble background. He scored 366 marks in his KCPE and was supposed to join Shimo la Tewa high school in Mombasa. He was happy but he knew he did not have the financial support that he needed.
He did not let that slow him down. He showed up at the school without a single penny. He had no school fees. His story touched the hearts of many including Central Organisation of Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli.
Atwoli has promised to take care of the boy.
“I have never been touched in my life the way the plight of this young boy from a poor background family from Kisii and who travelled to Shimo La Tewa Secondary School in Shanzu area of Mombasa without aid or assistance and without school fees.
“I praise the Lord I have travelled to Shimo La Tewa to make the boy be part of the family that I support,” he posted.
