Even with the world going through a pandemic and all, people have decided to put that aside for a while to protests over the killings that have been taking place. Police brutality has been on the rise in many countries, probably due to pandemic directives that the police have been attempting to enforce but unfortunately, people, especially black people are losing their lives in the process.
Kenyans have started protests this morning after learning that a homeless man was on Monday evening killed by the police after he was found outside past curfew hours in Mathare.
A disturbing video of the man who was reportedly shot dead by police in Bondeni area was shared on Twitter by Human Rights activist Boniface Mwangi.
According to the activist, the man identified by locals as Vaite was shot after he was found outside during curfew hours.
“Kenya Police have shot dead a homeless man in Mathare, Bondeni area. He works as a loader in Marikiti but sleeps in the streets, residents call him Vaite. About 300 people have defied the curfew and are protesting the extrajudicial killing, ” wrote Mwangi.

The man was heard in a video that soon went viral pleading for mercy saying that he couldn’t breathe while the police held his head on the ground using his knee. The man passed and died in the hands of the police.
