Self-love, We tend to think that it’s automatic and natural for a person to love themselves but sadly that’s not the case. It is very important to love yourself but it actually is a lot of work. It’s something that we all want but sometimes it becomes too much and we neglect it.

If you want a happy life, at some point you have to take a step back and keenly evaluate yourself. Take time to learn yourself. Find out what you want in life, what makes you happy, what you can never tolerate and most of all, visualize how you want your life to be like.

Visualize what your life should be and decide what you want to do.
We all have life goals and dreams. Personally, I think the first thing you should be thinking about at this point is how you are going to ensure you are always happy. Being happy should be your aspiration in life. Other than that, now visualize on what you want your future to be like. A good job, a healthy relationship, stability and things like that. Now make a firm decision about what you want to do with your life. Make the change you need to make now!
Be honest with yourself and figure out your weaknesses.
Nobody’s perfect, right?
Loving yourself goes hand in hand with being completely honest with oneself. You know yourself best so figure out your weaknesses and work on them. If it’s something you can’t control or change, embrace yourself for who you are and that will bring you so much happiness.
Take care of yourself physically.
How you look and feel plays a major part in self-love. Ensure that you look and feel your absolute best. Trust me, I know it’s difficult to keep up but you can promise yourself to try each and every day. Exercise often. While Exercising, the body produces a hormone that makes you feel happy. Also, this will improve your physical look and you will be fit. Exercise is also paramount in mental health. Eat healthily, or at least try to. You can start by cutting on junk and drinking plenty of water.
Have a clear out.
Having a clear out is when you tidy up a room and throw away the things in it that you no longer want. On your day off, preferably on a Saturday, go through every room and take out everything you do not need anymore. You will be surprised at how much baggage you have been holding onto. Only leave behind things you need and love, things that make you feel good. This also works on people. Clear out toxic people in your life and leave behind people who love you genuinely and those who want the best for you.
Spend time with people you love/try something new.
We are all guilty of neglecting important people in our lives, especially family. Reach out to that person you love more than anything in your life and spend time with them. If they are far away, call them often and let them know what they mean to you. Spoil your mum rotten. Go out and try something new with your siblings/ cousins. Visit your favourite aunt.
Take a walk, meditate and relax.

As I said earlier, visualizing on your life should be a priority. Take yourself for a walk to your favourite destination. Relax your mind and meditate.
Cut yourself some slack, you can’t control everything.
You are doing the best you can so cut yourself some slack. You have to understand that some things are out of your control. Be a little kind to yourself. Pay yourself some compliments once in a while and believe that you are worth everything. Have a little fun. Go out on the weekends, let your hair down and finally be grateful for even the little things.
