Kenyan All- Female SWAT Team
Kenya has never had its own all-female Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) team. However, that changed on Friday after the first ever all-female team gradated after months of training.
According to CS Matiang’i the team comes in a very good time as the country is in the verge of seeking more help in handling security threats.
“Today gives us confidence as the government that we have the capacity to protect our people and secure our country. Now we can e rest assured that we have more officers who can undertake intricate security operations that require specialized approaches,” said Dr Matiang’i.
The team includes 48 commando officers who were drawn from Administration Police Service. They went through five months of physical and combat drilling which is the first phase of their 15 months-long programme standardized training.
The team graduated on Friday.
