Kieni Member of Parliament has found himself in trouble after it was alleged that he had locked out Tenant over unpaid rent.
For the past few months, Kenyans have been struggling with rent and had even earlier pleaded with the president hoping that landlord would waive rent until the country is back to normal. The waiver didn’t happen though as the president said that there was no way the government would interfere with private businesses.
MP Kanini Kega who owns Joshua Acarde, apartments in Kahawa Wendani is now in trouble after it was discovered that through his gents, he had locked the houses of his tenants.
The tenants at Joshua Acarde resorted to locking the apartment’s caretaker’s house accusing him of having harassed them.
“We are tenants of an apartment in Kahawa Wendanyi, the owner of the apartment is Keini MP Kanini Kega,” said the tenants.
“He is a Government principle, he is supposed to lead by example, some of us have been here for years and have been paying rent even before the deadlines,” lamented the tenant.
The tenants were furious because the Kieni MP who owns the apartment had not commented on the issue but was communicating through his agent.
“He is not talking, but I know he is speaking through his agent, he called us after we calmed down,” said Mbugua.
“Why is he doing that during a pandemic and they are the ones urging people to stay at home?”
At times like this, all that most people are asking for is for landlords to be a little lenient and considerate until things go back to normal.
