I know, for the married and those in relationships, Valentine’s week is something eagerly waited for. For the single ladies and gentlemen, not so much. It is totally okay to be single, it is refreshing actually, but there is a lot of pressure that comes with valentine’s day. The whole world celebrating love while you are all alone is not such a pretty experience, right. The 15th is the most difficult day since your co-workers will come with all these romantic stories of how they spent the previous night.
This pressure brings about a lot of mistakes whereby people try everything in their power to find love by Valentine’s day. This is the moment where people find themselves being nice to that person whom they have snubbed for a whole year, others try their luck in dating sites. All this just to have a Valentine’s day date or to ensure they receive those roses/teddy bears/chocolates.
If you are seeing someone, make sure you do something special together, after all this is the only day set aside for Love. However, if your partner is not so much into the holiday, do not corner them into thinking that this is a must do kind of thing. After all, what really matters is how they treat you for the rest of the 364 days. Focus on the joy of giving rather than that of receiving. Focus on getting your partner something that has a deep and unique meaning to them.
On the other hand, if you are single, DO NOT listen to that inner demon that keeps telling you how miserable you are and how you will never find someone. Valentine’s can also be celebrated with a close friend. Doesn’t have to be your lover. Do not beat yourself up trying to find someone in two weeks. Valentine’s shall pass!
