As a way of curbing as well as containing the spread of coronavirus in Kenya, the government decided to restrict the movement of people in an out of the most affected counties. These counties include Nairobi, Mombasa, Kwale and Kilifi. Cessation of movement was also implemented in some of the most affected estates, including Eastleigh and Old town Mombasa.
Only essential work providers are allowed to navigate through these restricted areas. Unfortunately, some of them are taking advantage of their position to move around the county for their own needs. A Nairobi nurse has been arrested in Nakuru after neighbours noticed that she had travelled all the way there to visit her boyfriend. According to the residents, the lady came in wearing a hijab trying to cover up her tracks since she did not want anyone knowing who she as.
After realizing it as really her, knowing well that she lived in Nairobi, they notified the health surveillance team in Nakuru who immediately responded to the matter.
Together with the boyfriend they were arrested and tested for coronavirus Even though they were okay, the team decided to put them under mandatory quarantine until they knew for sure that the two were okay.
“The man lives here but the woman came while wearing like a muslim, although they were tested and found to be in normal condition, we thought it wise to have them quarantined until further notice,” said one of the residents.
This incident comes only a day after a truck driver who went missing after taking COVID-19 test was arrested in Kiratina village in Nakuru county. He had dodged the police after realizing that he was positive for the virus and he went looking for a place to stay in Nakuru.
