A clinical officer in Bureti, Kericho County, is in critical condition fighting for his life after he got shot on his way home from work past curfew.
Bureti OCPD Felician Nafula disclosed that Kirui was hit by a stray bullet as the police officers were dispersing youth who had flouted the curfew rule.
The officer involved in the shooting has now apologized for shooting the clinical officer.
National Police Service, through the area OCPD stated that investigations are underway to ensure that justice is served to the victim.
The doctor’s colleagues, however, urged the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) to ensure the police officer who was involved in the shooting is charged accordingly.
“Our colleague is undergoing surgery and is in deep pain. Soon he will come out from the theatre and we are not happy,” one clinical officer stated.
