Aircraft Crash at Nyaribo Nyeri
There has been a light aircraft crash at the Nyaribo airstrip in Nyeri.
The plane crashed shortly after taking off from the airstrip in Nyaribo, near Mweiga.
Luckily, there were no casualties during the crash that happened near the airstrip’s runway.
The plane is said to have been with a trainee.
The airstrip has low traffic although, after the launch of the Nyeri-Nairobi flights last year by the county government of Nyeri, there has been increased activity in the airstrip.
The flights will be taking an approximate of 25 mins at a cost of Ksh 3,000 per trip.
It made it easier for tourists, business people, and other travelers to access the two regions easily, in a span of fewer than 30 minutes.
The importance of launching the flights was to ease transport and promote trade in the county.
The airstrip is located 1.2 kilometres from Nyeri town, which is a 15 minutes drive.
The airstrip’s runway can accommodate big planes too.
