Police officers in Migori have launched a manhunt for 12 individuals who escaped from a quarantine facility.
The 12 sneaked out of St Mary’s Mabera Secondary School isolation centre after complaining of poor sanitisation and overcrowding. Out of the 12, only 2 left behind their contacts which means that 10 cannot be easily traced.
“Twelve of them whose identities are unknown escaped to unknown destinations. Scene visited by police and search is underway,” read the police report.
The12 were apparently among 20 people who were arrested after being caught drinking past curfew hours.
It was discovered that the 12 were among people who had been complaining about overcrowding and poor sanitization at the facility but their plea was ignored.
No one has been traced yet but police officers have been deployed to Ntimaru, Kogaja, Guitembe and Kopanga borders.
“So far nobody has been traced although we have launched investigations into any possible leads,” said Oluoch who declined to comment on the other seven who had escaped on May 13.
