Tanzanian musician Vanessa made a pretty surprising remark at the second episode of East Africa’s got talent about herself.
This was after a performance of a young man by the name Mark Angachi from Ngara Nairobi who moved the crowd to near tears with his rendition of country song ‘Tennessee Whiskey.’
Mark had earlier said that he was born with cataracts and later diagnosed with Acute Leukemia when he was still in high school and was forced to drop out to undergo chemotherapy.
Touched by his story Vanessa Mdee disclosed that she also has a condition. She is clinically blind in one eye but she has never let that stop her dreams.
“It’s unusual for someone so young to sing so soulfully. I’m clinically blind in one eye as well, that hasn’t stopped me from pursuing my biggest dreams,”
“No matter what happens in this competition, to me you’re a winner and you’re going to continue winning.” aid Judge Vanessa Mdee to the contestant.
